The Winery:
Crystal Valley Cellars is part of the Consentino Winery series. Crystal Valley Cellars was originally established by Mitch Consentino in Modesto in 1980, producing small batch wines. When the winery was moved to the Napa Valley near Yountville it was renamed Consentino Winery. In 2001 the new Crystal Valley Cellars opened in Lockeford, where a gracefully designed, Spanish style tasting room offers not only the wines from this facility, but also wines from the Napa winery. Crystal Valley Cellars specializes in wines from outside of the Napa region.
The Vineyards:
The Lockeford winery focuses on small distinctive vineyard lots from around California, including Lodi Zins and Old Vine Zins.
The Wines:
Crystal Valley produces wines from grapes throughout California. Although it is probably best known for its CigarZin and The Zin, both big bold Lodi style Zinfandels, they also offer an award winning Tempranillo and a long list of warm and cool loving varietals, even including a Pinot Noir from Solano County grapes.
The Winemaker:
All winemaking at the Consentino wineries is overseen by founder, Mitch Cosentino. The winemaker is Jason Fisher, who studied at UC Davis and worked for several Napa area wineries before joining Cosentino in 2000.
