The Winery:
The name for M2 is a lighthearted play on the names of founders Layne Montgomery and Chris Matheny. The initial vintages were produced at a custom crush facility in Amador County with the 2006 wines produced at the new Lodi winery. The winery is located in a commercial district of Lodi with a cozy tasting area found in the cellar room and decorated with local artwork.  

The Vineyards:
M2 owns none of their own vineyards but chooses instead to buy grapes from select vineyards across the state including Cabernet from Rutherford, Old Vine Zin from Lodi, Petite Sirah from Clarksburg and Syrah and Petite Sirah from the Foothills.

The Wines:
Old Vine Zins are the specialty of the house including wines made from Soucie Vineyard, which has vines planted in 1916. The vineyard is known for its 40 degree daily temperature shift and resulting wines with big fruity Zin flavors. They also make a deeply flavored, full bodied Petite Sirah and nicely structured red wine blends.
