The Winery:
: This is a picturesque winery surrounded by meticulously maintained gardens. The winery is designed in an American Victorian style, which creates the perfect background for the Berghold family’s large collection of antiques from that time period. Many of the antiques are museum quality and are too extensive to list here, but the classic design of the tasting room, along with the high quality wine related merchandise and art for sale, makes this winery well worth the visit. In addition to wine, the Bergholds make their own olive oil, which is also for sale in the tasting room. There is a small $5 tasting fee refunded with purchase of a bottle of wine.
The Vineyards:

The estate began selling grapes to premier wineries in 1986 with an eye to eventually establishing their own winery. The boutique sized winery doesn’t utilize the entire harvest, and most of the grapes are sold to estates across the fine wine regions of California. The three vineyards cover 85 acres of Syrah, Viognier, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Zinfandel.

.
The Wines:
The first wine, a Syrah, was produced by the estate in 1999, followed by a Viognier in 2000. The estate now produces an array of Bordeaux and Rhone style wines, particularly specializing in Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. All wines are estate grown and bottled.
The Winemaker:
Miles Berghold, son of winery owners Joe and Kay, is the winemaker for Berghold Estate.
