The Winery:
The Bogle family has been farming in this area since the mid-1800s, planting their first vineyard in 1968. The winery was completed 10 years later. The tasting room is situated on the east side of Elk Slough on Merritt Island. The tasting room is bright and cheery with great views of the vineyards from floor to ceiling windows. The tasting room is next to a wonderful lawn area that comes complete with picnic tables.

The Vineyards:
The family started 20 acres of vineyards in the Clarksburg area and they now manage over 1200 acres of vineyards in the Delta area. First vineyard planted in 1968 – 20 acres in Clarksburg now farm over 1200 acres in Delta. The vineyard manager is Warren Bogle, a six generation California farmer. The winery now purchases grapes from throughout California and uses them to create their vast wine portfolio.

The Wines:
Bogle prides itself on using the best grapes from multiple regions of California to make the best wines for the price possible. Although this is a fairly high volume winery, they consistently wine awards for their reds and whites and are often rated by major wine critics as a great value wine. Their Old Vine Zin has been very successful in that arena as well as the Merlot and Chenin Blanc.

The Winemaker:
Director of Winemaking at Bogle is Christopher Smith, a graduate of Fresno State University with degree in enology. He has worked for Jordan and Kendall-Jackson prior to coming to Bogle in 1992, and is considered a specialist in blending wines from multiple AVAs of California to produce a distinctive style. The winemaker at Bogle is Eric Aafedt who earned a degree in Chemistry from San Luis Obispo. Eric worked at Concannon prior to coming to Bogle in 1994.
