The Winery:
French Hill has a winery two tasting rooms available, the first of which at the winery site in the wonderfully rusticand historic Gold Rush town of Molkelumne Hill in Calaveras County. The second is located at the Old Sugar Mill facility in the Delta town of Clarksburg.

The Vineyards:
The winery purchases its grapes for its award winning wines from Sierra Foothill Vineyards.

The Wines:
French Hill designs their wines in the Cal-Italia style. They have been particularly successful with their Barbera, which has not only won numerous awards in the United States but the winery has been invited to compete at the International Barbera competition in Piedmont Italy. But don’t forget to try their Cabernet Sauvignon, which is nicely balanced with a good structure and a little bit of spice as well as their award winning Spanish style Tempranillo.

Rod Ruthel is not only a winemaker, but a respected artist as well and has made quite a name for his wine label designs.
