The Winery:
McConnell Estates is owned and operated by fifth generation farming family, the Wackmans. The tasting room is located in the 100 plus year old McConnell ranch house that has been lovingly  and tastefully redone, right down to the white picket fence.  Inside you will find several early California antiques and period pictures scattered throughout the bottom floor, giving the visitor a true glimpse into the history of this end of the Sacramento Valley.  Along with their wines, the tasting room offers wine accessories, gift baskets & apparel for sale.

The Vineyards:
The first estate grapes were planted by the Wackmans in 1993.  They now have 650 acres of grapes, which includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Barbera, Merlot, Petite Sirah, Syrah, Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Only a portion are used in the creation of the estate wines.

The Wines:
There is a subterranean barrel center located underneath the ranch house, where the wines are barrel-aged in French oak. The winery specializes in Mediterranean style varietals, such as Tempranillo, Zinfandel and Petite Sirah. This is one of the few wineries in the region that bottles some of their wines under the name of the recently created Cosumnes River AVA, established within the Lodi AVA in August of 2006.  

The Winemaker:
Mike Wackman, the winemaker at McConnell Estates, works with consulting winemaker Chad Joseph to produce the estate wines. All wines are estate grown and bottled.
