The Winery: The winery is located in downtown Sacramento in a former auto shop. This urban, new-age style winery opened in July, 2007. There are two tasting rooms, one on ‘P’ Street in Sacramento, and the second at the Sugar Mill in Clarksburg. The Clarksburg facility carries that urban, contemporary feel, but with a small town friendliness.
The Vineyards:
The winery owns none of their own vineyards, but does purchase grapes from Clarksburg, Sacramento, and Amador County. They also purchase Riesling grapes from the Washington State region of Yakima Valley.
The Wines:
The wines of Revolution do a wonderful job of displaying the terroir of the vineyards where the grapes are sourced. The Syrah has a big nose that is unmistakable, with tart black fruit on the palate, which reflects the nature of the sea breeze cooled vineyards of the Clarksburg region. The Zinfandels from Amador County have that great black fruit and spice known to come from that region’s grapes.
The Winemaker:
The winemaker at Revolution is Jason Fernandez. He has a robust wine resume, having previously worked at such well known California Wineries as Chalone Vineyard, Glen Ellen, Bonny Doon, Amador Foothill Winery, Madroña Vineyards, and R.H. Phillips. |
