The Winery:
The Scribner family has been farming in this region of the Delta since 1893; so long, in fact, that the bend in the river carries the family name. The tasting room and wine cellar are housed in the renovated 1918 barn and is surrounded by beautiful gardens, an elegant stone fountain, lawns and a wonderful courtyard that are perfect for events.
|
The Vineyards:
The estate has 50 acres of grapes including Pinot Grigio, Viognier, Chardonnay, Tempranillo, Merlot and Syrah. All of the wines are made from estate grown grapes.
|
The Wines:
Scribner is increasingly known for its production of that great Spanish wine, Tempranillo. The wine is big on spice and black fruit with a tart fruit finish and delightfully dusty tannins. They also make a very chewy Syrah that is big on cherries and nice menthol and clove often characteristic in the varietal. The white wines have surprisingly good acidity with a lot of tropical fruit.
